I have a 150 Opti that had the same problem a few times. It usually only happend in water over 80 degrees when I was moving at low RPM in no wake areas for extended periods. I replaced the impellor and it helped. I understand Mercury has an update kit that your dealer can order that improves the cooling at low RPM. Since my problem didn't persist I didn't get around to having it installed. You might want to ask Sherm the Opti guru on the Merucry motor board at Bass Boat Central.
