The new Eagle (Lowrance) brand sonar GPS combos are nice for the money.

One suggestion I do have if you can afford it... as stated in earlier reply. Buy two of the same units sonar/gps combos, or two of the same sonars and a hand-held gps unit. That way if one unit goes down on you, you can switch them back and forth if needed.

Color for sonar isn't really necessary IMHO, for what we as musky anglers need, but color gps/mapping is a nice feature if you can afford it.

Garmin and Lowrance/Eagle seem to be the most popular brands out there but the others look like they have some nice stuff as well. I still think the Garmin 240 is one of the best values out there for a reliable work horse all-around sonar unit. Good clarity, good transmitting strength, user friendly and reliable. For $200 kinda hard to beat if you couple it with one of the new hand-held mapping/gps combos and get a ram mount for it.
