| Just stopped at a car audio shop last week and had this discussion with the salesman.
He has had both XM and Sirius. He currently has Sirius and likes that the best. Sirius has more satellites plus has like stationary "boosters" in areas with reception problems (bigger cities) and thus better reception. Although he did say the signal only really starts to get iffy when you are in stuff like parking structures and tunnels. He said when he would lose the signal with XM it would sometimes take a while to regain it. He said he hasn't had a problem losing the signal with the Sirius and if it does, it picks up the signal again very quickly.
He didn't tell me what the exact price was but right now did say that Sirius was more expensive if you look at the actual monthly cost when you sign up. I think the XM is 9.95 a month. He said that right now if you sign up for Sirius and pay for a 12 month contract, you get 3 months free with brings the cost to like 10.00 a month. I don't know if that deal is just for 1st time or renewals as well. He said the same thing about sports as to who had what. But, didn't say anything about NASCAR switching to Sirius, which would be one of the things I was interested in.
Actually, was very cooperative and didn't really push either one. Just gave me a bunch of information. I was leaning towards XM but after talking to him Sirius sounded like it might be a better choice. After talking prices with him on stereo's, I'll have a little time before I upgrade the truck so I'll have to see how it plays out until then.
I talked to one of the guys at AMS audio in Sun Prarie.
