For our uses, I would stick to the Non-Commercial channels. If you fish the Great Lakes, be particularly careful about the channels you use and how you use them. Unlawful or unauthorized use has resulted in fines by the FCC in my area. See http://wireless.fcc.gov/marine/fctsht14.html for info.

Most guys in the areas I fish (inland waters) use 68 or 69.
