Location: Bagley,MN 56621		how close to the housing did the skeg snap off?

If it's real close, welding will damage the housing and internal gears, you could be looking at a new lower unit, or tear down the lower unit first, then weld, then make sure the inside housing is it's original diameter.......hope I explained that right.
If it's only the lower few inches that broke off you probably dont need to do anything with that size HP engine, but welding would be an ok option.
