There are a variety of choices and it depends on what boat size you have, how much space you have and whether you want a base station type vs. a handheld. Bases offer greater reception/transmission properties vs. handhelds, but also rely on a much larger antenna. A good antenna is integral. Decent ones are usually 8 feet long and can be a pain when casting or working a fish around the boat. Handhelds on the other hand are small, portable and less expensive. I've been looking at the Uniden Atlantis with the rechargeable batteries and AC charger for about $140 CDN. Hope that helps some.
