Location: Illinois | Well, it's that time of year where things are showing their wear. The last 4 times I have been out the winds have been at least 25 miles per hour and gust up to 40. My trolling motor is on 8-10 most of the day to keep some sort of position. Late in the day my battery gets low and marks recharge. I switch to a fresh, fully charged battery that after a few minutes runs like it has no charge. Sure enough, I check the new battery and it says recharge. After leaving the motor off because something is apparently wrong I get back to the dock and the battery again says full charge. I made sure when I checked that the motor was off each and every time because I know if you check the battery level with the motor running it will mark recharge. Is the system overheating because of all day on high speeds? I don't have fuses as I bypassed fuses and go direct wire hook up. Any ideas of what is going on and how do I fix it? All the connections are secure because I checked and rechecked. It is a Minnkota with 50 pounds of thrust connected to a 12 volt battery. Thanks for any input. hj |
