I have a '98 Ficht 150 hp. motor that started out a lemon and has been exceptionally good since a new 2000 powerhead was put in. I fish 200 days per year and run a lot of mile. Evinrude had the problems pretty well fixed by 2000. Bombardier has done nothing but improve the engine ever since taking over. Last year Bombardier won the J.D. Powers award for excellence for their Ficht engine and customer satisfaction.

The new E-Tech motor is grabbing lots of attention for its performance, no break in period and no maintenance for 3 years. It is so quiet you can't believe it. It is still a two stroke so hole shot and top end speeds are not a problem. And it's the lowest fuel and oil consumer ever. I wouldn't hesitate to buy an Evinrude now that Bombardier has take the reins.
