Location: Eau Claire, WI | Not sure if you have ever replaced the water pump impellor? ( I replace mine every season, cheap insurance, they are less than $20) Factory recomendation on most motors is every season. Even though you have water coming out of the tatle tale "squirter" you still could be low on volume needed to keep the engine temp low enough after long periods of trolling.
The fact that a short run to another locations was enough to cool it back down tells me you either have inadequate water flow or possibly a thermostat that might be sticking. Your motor may or may not have a thermostat.
Dave J. is right...trolling with these motors is fine and the only thing that might happen is you may foul your plugs more often from the low rpm's if you are running a standard carburated two stroke motor. |
