Location: in the white boat		Teck, I had the same problem with a boat that I used to have. Took the face plate off the bow instrument panel and found that the finder was wired right to the trolling motor pos and neg wires. Just for fun I rewired it to different leads and it worked fine after that.

Not sure if this is your problem or not but it might be worth a try.
