| In my humble opinion, if you are looking for a different prop, save your money from Michigan propeller and get a Solas Alcup3 in a 15 pitch. http://www.solas.com You can get this prop in a 14 or possibly a 15 pitch, but it will be cupped significantly, AND you will also see an increase in exhaust flow which will boost your RPMs back up due to the hub design (it's not rubber bushing). I was able to run a 12 x 17 pitch on my Johnson 50 (2 stroke) and have the motor up in the third bolt hole off the transom (and am planning on going up one more to see how it handles and possibly add even more cupping) A stock 12-3/4 x 15 got me 5500 RPMs on the lowest bolt hole, and cornering stunk. Made the change, increased speed by about 5 mph with the motor moved up and the 17 installed.
If you really want to tweak the motor, lift it off the transom about 2 bolt holes and see where you RPM's are and your speed with your 15 pitch. You can figure an increase in RPM by about 200 or so just by lifting the motor off the transom (Unless this has previously been done). Heck..you might even find just by doing that your 15 pitch will work fine. But...if it is a stock, or standard replacement michigan wheel, it will not corner really well, which is where the alcup will shine and not blow out. You may have to trim down just a touch in a moderate to heavy turn, but not anywhere near as muc as you would with a stock prop.
