Subject: Trailer Leaf Springs?

Likely need to replace the leaf springs on my trailer... Purchased a Tuffy X-170T and it's been sucking all the cash out of me. It seems like as time goes on the starboard side of the trailer has less and less clearance between the tire and the fender. It's a single axle trailer and a decent bump will cause the tire to hit. Rarely if ever do I get that on the port side. When looking at the leaf springs themselves they don't appear to be in bad shape, but I could be wrong. Anything else I should look at before just replacing the leaf springs? I'm probably going to take it somewhere to be done, I'd rather pay a little more to have it done right and save myself the headache.

Also, any harm in having some heavier leaf springs installed? Would it give them a longer life, or just beat up my boat more when going over bumps?

TIA
