For newer muskie anglers, a butt seat can promote poor figure 8ing and not paying attention. With that being said, I usually have one on the bow, enough people ask for one.


The figure 8 can be an issue, but have made it a habit when using the butt seat to stand up as the lure approaches the boat and begin the 8. I have one rod that 9'6" and not sure I would need to do that with that rod. Since I am leaning, not sitting, really an easy transition but one I need to remind myself of.
