| Just signed up to the board so I could chime in on this post about Quicksilver oil. I have a 98 Willie Predator aluminum boat with a 175 sport jet in it. I use it for steelhead, salmon, and sturgeon fishing on the Cowlitz and Columbia rivers out here in Southwest Washington. Last week end I was running back to the dock after a day of fishing. About 500 yards away my motor alarmed out a solid alarm. It means either High heat, SJs dont get hot, or low oil. I noticed my on engine reservoir was just a bit low, but had over 2 gallons in my main oil tank. I ran in on my kicker. Spent the last few days trouble shooting. I found exactly what the OP posted.I pulled my pickup tube in my main reservoir and it was completely plugged. Then I pulled it and started dumping the oil. It was pretty gelled, coagulated. I had to do a thorough cleaning of all components. I actually still had the empty gallon jug of Quicksilver oil and looked inside. It was a coagulated mess. I sent Quicksilver a message the other day and hoping to hear back really soon.
I am wondering what the OP heard from Mercury. It almost looks like its a possibility Mercury could have got a bad batch of oil from the supplier. I hear Citgo provides the oil for Mercury.
Hoping the OP could get me some more info off his oil jug, if he still has it. I'm going to try to include some pictures on here.
