Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I just bought 2 of the biggest Deep cycles from Fleet Farm. I have had good luck with their batteries, they have lasted 4-6 years for me and I fish alot. They are only $53 each and have a 2-year warranty. How can you justify spending $100 on a battery if it might only last one year longer? The only thing I would spend more money for would be if it was a maintenance free battery which I wouldn't have to add water too ever. I wouldn't get a gel battery because they don't tolerate overcharging and need a special charger to get the most life out of them.
I feel the best thing to help battery longevity is to have a high quality on board charger and charge them at the end of every day. Also, monitor the water level and replenish it with distilled water only.
