Depends what kind of boat. if the stringers are also wet. Transom could just be the beginning.

Geography is a pretty important factor as well, are you in an area where say sailboat racing is big, if so you'll likely find top notch glasswork. If your geography is populated by marinas that cater to the outboard crowd, you might have to look a little harder.

Literally don't know until they know the full extent of the damage but I'd be prepared to spend at least 5k, and if it comes in less then enjoy your "new boat".
