I am planning on repowering my river boat this spring, and am having trouble deciding which motor to buy. The only sure thing right now is that it will be a Yamaha. I have a 20 year old 2 stroke on it now, and it has served me fine albeit the fuel economy is not great and it loads up a bit on the troll. Are the new two strokes any more fuel efficient than the old ones? Are the newer two strokes more suited for trolling than the older ones(I troll about 10 hours per week on average)? Are the four strokes in the 50 horsepower range worth the extra $1000 or so? I've heard that fuel economy is increaed by up to 30%, is this true? I plan on making a descision in a couple weeks and any recommendations either way wil be greatly appreciated.
