Nothing floating is going to hit anything that wouldn't hit the shaft anyway . I'm aware of where I'm going and were talking less than 5 mph. Salmon fishing is where it really shines at 2.5 mph . Most outboard boats under 20 feet where I fish are steering with their Ipilot we call it 4 wheel trolling this just gives more control while saving battery.
