I'm sure others will have varying opinions, but trolling with the trolling motor down is a lot of torque on the mount and wears out the pins/aluminum sideplates in a terrova. My preference is always to steer from the console or use the tiller handle. I would opt for the tie bar. I troll up to 6.5 mph and would not want my terrova in the water when contour trolling areas. It is a hassle. It also can't react as quickly as the wheel or tiller handle.


i would think the contour trolling would be awesome with the terrova in if you had link. let the kicker push and the terrova steer along the line that you're fishing? 6.5 is quite fast from what i gather though, and i could definitely see that imparting a lot of stress at those speeds.
