I agree with you that the 60" is a lot of shaft length. I used a 54" on my Ranger Reata 1850VS and it was perfect for that boat. I think 52" would be too short for that boat. I am not sure about the Nitro, but I would think it is deeper than the Reata. If it is, a 54" would be too short. Someone else may chime in that has a Nitro.
