I have an Alumacraft 175 Navigator. Is plenty wide 95" and just 4" short of 18ft it has a 4 stroke 150 Yamaha
I agree with "7over5" and if I had it to do over would get the 115.
Very seldom open it up and never in rough water anyway.
I guess, I'd go with the idea not to go less tha 80% of max recommended HP and am sure 115 would have been close enough and fine .. for me. Repeat, for me at least.
The 150 is a little thirsty and the extra gas would be nice on extended trips.
For me the 150 was overkill. Just MHO.
