Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota | I have a friend with a little bit older pro V bass and that is an incredible boat. Can’t speak to the triton as I don’t have any experience with it but the pro v was super comfortable to fish off of and was really space efficient. The casting deck is set up a lot more like a bass boat so you will get a little wet in bigger waves but it is really nice not having to work around the walls while working a bait. He’s got a 150 merc on it and we topped out around 50 with 2 people on the boat. If I could have any boat in that class though I’d take a ranger 1882wt even though it is more of a true V. My dad has one with a 150 merc that I have spent hundreds of hours fishing with him on vermilion. Boat handles big water as well as you can ask for a tin boat and is super comfortable to fish out of. Has higher walls than the pro v bass but not enough to really impact working baits in my opinion. With both of us on it we’ve gotten it up to 55mph with the motor trimmed just right and calm conditions. It’s a little cheaper than the pro V bass but not a big difference. I’m probably biased because I have so many good memories on that boat but it is a really solid rig. Fished in 2-3 foot chop before in some of the basins on vermilion and I never felt unsafe. |
