You have this backwards i believe.

Yellow is constant 12v and red is switched 12v.

See if switching the power sources helps, shouldn't need a seperate switch for a switched connection. You should be able to run more than i unit off 1 switch with out issues.

The red switched connection usually doesn't have a big draw, but the Yellow is meant for constant power and can have a bigger draw. Although you may get things to power up with your configuration, you may experiance issue that are associated with a lack of power to your device. That might be why you have the results you are seeing. Switch the wires around once and see if that does the trick for you.
