Hiya,

On a 24 volt system, there is a jumper that is integral to the plug if memory serves me correctly. I believe with the 3 wires, there is a red (positive battery 1) an orange (positive battery 2) and a black (negative for both batteries). With your system going from 2 batteries to 3, so when you add your 3rd battery, you will need to do the following:

Buy a length of wire that will connect the negative of one of your original batteries to the positive of the new (third) battery. Attach the negative of your trolling motor lead to the negative of battery 3. Leave the positive lead on the original battery alone.

This should get you hooked up for 36 volt.
