Hiya,

Plug fouling usually will create a sputtering engine and an inability to get full power as one or more plugs is no longer producing spark consistently.

I wouldn't count out changing plugs as with the two strokes of that vintage or older as those motors use more oil and plugs are really inexpensive to replace....I would look at plug changing on any older two stroke engine as a spring tune up...run out any fogging oil first in the spring after first start-up, Perform a decarbonizing process on the motor (maybe not every spring...depending on use), then change out the plugs.

In this case, it sounds like the engine is running alright, but is starving of fuel on quick acceleration.
