I've been fishing the New River in Va with my G3 1860 jet for 8 years now. The G3 gator tough boats are great for the money, but certainly not bulletproof in shallow water. A couple of the mods I've done to my boat which really have helped out are:
1. Got rid of the dang drivers seat...it got in the way constantly and seriously, who drives a jet through shallow water sitting down? Once I removed the seat I covered the live well lid with Hydroturf so it could function as a bench seat that was functional and also as a mid-boat casting deck if needed.
2. Covered all casting deck surfaces with Hydroturf ...the stuff is awesome. It takes a beating, cleans up easily, doesn't get hot while fishing in the summer, and doesn't freeze up during winter fishing.
3. Applied Tuff-coat in the belly of the boat, vertical surfaces, and gunwhales. I love the look and anti-skid properties of the product, but it was extremely labor intensive to prep the aluminum so that it would adhere correctly.
4. Re-wired the entire trailer made by Bear. There were way too many crappy splices in the wiring that were causing problems.
You don't happen to fish the part of the new River between the dam and whitethorn do you? I could swear i have seen this boat at whitethorn before lol. And MAYBE Riverview |
