I also have converted 5 friends from bird to lowrance. You may not hear about it, but it happens more than you think. Every person I converted runs HDS units.

I used to have a portable HDS gen 1 5”. I mounted a transducer on the suction cup mount on the transom. We would look at one at a time. Birds would not read the bottom over one of the shad clouds we found. My lowrance would read the shad, tree, and the game fish under the tree. It was too hard to argue with those results.
