I brought a tape measure to the boat show the other weekend and put the boats to the test compared to my 1890GT.  The 1890GT has a true 2 person front deck.  Very comfortable fishing 2 up front all day on LOTW.  Having 3 guys with makes the trips cheaper and just a lot more fun BS’ing in the boat.  My previous 1760GT was a 2 person boat for long days and I don’t want to go backwards.  I’m not willing to lose front deck space in an upgrade so it narrows the field pretty fast.  The WX 1910, MX 1825,MS 1880,  Allure 186, Reatta 1850, Yar Craft 186, and what else am I forgetting?  All one person front decks.  The Nitro Z18 isn’t very long but it carries the width way up to the bow and I am not thrilled overall with that boat.  The Recon 985 has a nice long front deck space but it doesn’t carry that width to the bow very well from what I saw on the 2185 at the NW Expo last year.

I really like the 619/620 as both have a 2 person front deck but the price on those is bananas (used and new) plus I’m not thrilled with the rear storage pods.  The triton 206 allure and fishhunter both have a 2 person front deck.  The allure is slightly less bananas price wise but still up there for sure.  The 206 Allure is probably the front runner for me right now because it’s a full fledged fishing boat with jump seats.  Not like ranger where when you go with the angler series you get a different hull than the fisherman series.  Seems to have everything I want.  The only last detail I need to find out at the NW Expo when I have more time to go through the boats is if the port side storage will hold long rods.  10ft rod storage isn’t a thing on many boats so I have given up on it.  I will look over the MX2040 at the show but from what I remember I won’t be liking the bow.  Recon has the best rod locker set up by far but the seating is ok at best and I need to get the deck dimensions but from memory last year I wasn’t thrilled.

Then the last part to get over is the gas cost mentioned in the 20fter comments.  I go back and forth on that all the time.  I live super close to water so my local fishing I don’t care about the 1-2MPG loss and extra gas usage in the boat.  Canada trips the extra gas towing and boating are probably well worth the extra money as the extra $ simply won’t make or break the trips.  But the bigger boat just costs more all around and you gotta pay to play.  Boat shopping - the endless exercise of compare and compromise on everything.[/QUOTE]

I’ve been starting to look around as I am getting towards ready to move on from the tiller life and get a walk through. The options for console boats in the 18-19ft range are kinda disappointing though. I’m not sure I would be happy with the console version of my current boat. The tuffy 1890 doesn’t have a very large cockpit space and throw in the consoles and it’s not gonna get any bigger. Plus you don’t have the G-series option which is one of Tuffy’s greatest attributes. Just not sure and am still contemplating.
