Talk to the owner about how well the motor's been maintained. I.E. regular oil change, low unit fluid changes, fogging. etc.. See how readily it starts up and how well it runs. If he can't run it for you in a tank (garbage can or hose adaptor), I wouldn't buy it. A motor that's been regularly maintained "as per the manual" can be preferred than one with higher running time that's been unused for years w/o maintaince.
