Subject: After-market spare tire carrier

Location: Green Bay, WI
Does anyone have a Ranger Trail trailer that they have added an after-market spare tire carrier?

Since I fish alone a lot and have a bad knee, I want to add a set of Ezee-Steps to the trailer. But Ranger put the spare tire in exactly the wrong spot for this (see picture). Mark the Ezee-Steps fellow said that while they've made steps for similar Ranger trailers before (similar spare placement), it isn't in the optimal position. Simply put, you are basically forced to have all three steps mounted to a single point on the trailer and that's not so good with the channel-type frame that Ranger uses. It may be strong in shear, but the channel doesn't resist torsion so much...so they end up putting other bracing on the thing to mitigate the twisting. Therefore I'm strongly considering just going with an aftermarket spare mount.

I see that Cabela's has a few and there's one of them that looks OK. It's this one:

Has anyone seen/used one of those? Or, does anyone use something else that has worked out well...preferably on a Ranger Trail trailer.

Thanks in advance.
