Get the hole saw bit approximately centered and apply just enough pressure to hold it in place.
Then run your drill in reverse, long enough to take off a circle of gelcoat.
If you're careful about it, this "track" in the gelcoat will guide your saw long enough to get it started running it forward.
Run the drill at max speed, but use only enough pressure to drill through the console slowly.
