If you get a hds 9 or 12, you can have as many as three hds units networked together off the hds 9 without using the box. There are two Ethernet ports on the hds 9. So you can have structure scan on all three units. The structure scan transducer must be hooked up to the hds 9 to do this. Then run an ethernet cable to each of the other units from the hds 9. I am currently doing this on my own boat(hds 7, and two 9's). The generation of the units is not relevant. The box could be used if you wanted to make your network larger than this.
PS. nema 2000 will not network structure scan. That's for other stuff.
