Location: Tinley Park, IL | When I was doing my exhaustive boat search over the last couple years I discovered much what Steve says. There's no practical way to put a kicker on a fiberglass bass boat. And most manufacturers said that installing any kind of kicker bracket would void the warranty. About the best I saw was a fella who used a Talon sandwich bracket and applied a mounting board on that for a 8 HP, 2-stroke kicker. He said it was rock solid and he could get a little over 4 mi/hr. He only used it for limping across HP-restricted lakes and not for sustained trolling.
This is one of the main reasons I got the X-190. It has many of the qualities of a bass boat yet has a transom that I can put on a kicker. I take about 3 trips per year to HP-restricted lakes. |
