The one nice thing about synthetics is they do a better job of staying more fluid in colder environments. In the case of our lower units always being in a cooler environment, that is a good thing during summer, but in late fall, early spring, the lubricants that are more oil based can be a bit thicker. Lubricity is still there, but I do feel you lose some performance...more or less a touch of top speed is taken off.
I'm an Amsoil proponent as it is american made and synthetic. Their stuff is great!! Stays viscous at all temps... Many local Napa stores (at least in the Twin Cities area) now carry it, which is a nice thing...
