Not sure if this is related to cold weather or just an MinnKota problem in general. I recently went on a 3 day trip about 4 hours from home. The first half day I used the Ulterra it worked fine. I put the boat in the second day and got to the first spot and was not able to turn on the power switch on the motor. I worked on it for over an hour on the lake and checked all the connections and couldn't find anything wrong. I stopped at a dealership who was a Minnkota repair facility and they checked things out and found that the power to the motor was fine so it needed to be something within the ulterra. I decided to go home as they didn't have time to work on it. I got about half way home and while making a stop I pushed the power button on the motor and it lit up and started working. Since I was near another lake I decided to fish and it worked fine for 6 hours or so. I loaded up again and went home and found that the next morning it would not turn on again but again had power up to the motor. I dropped it off at the Mankato Minnkota repair office and explained that it was just an off and on problem and was happening even though it had power right up to the motor. I got it shipped back to me today with a note saying it worked fine so it must be a wiring or battery issue. This is very frustrating. Good chance it will do the same thing on my next trip too.
