I ran a 185 tiller for two seasons and have nothing but stellar things to say about that boat. I wish I still had it many days. It ran mid 30's with two guys fully loaded with all my gear. I don't think you'd get an 8'6" in the center locker without taking out the rod tubes, which I did and I fit all my sticks in there with socks on them. I use mainly telescoping rods so none of mine are longer than 8' telescoped down but I'm pretty sure the starboard locker fits 9' rods if I remember correctly. I always kept my walleye rods in there so I'm not 100% positive on that length. Best thing to do is email Alumacraft and they'll let you know. They're customer service is outstanding.
