I installed a Minn Kota DC alternator charger on my 1760 for a 24 volt Terrova. Mr Brad Nelson gave me the idea (thanks). WOW, it's the best thing I ever did. The thing regulates and tops off the starting battery and then diverts the extra juice coming from the big motor to the TM batteries. It was around $100 and I honestly don't think my batteries have ever gone below 75%. Several of us on here have installed them and we are all very pleased with them. It is also great to have when you are on a dock on a place like LOTW and you have a power outage which always seems to happen. I honestly never worry about battery life........I can't say if you need a 36 volt system on an 1890 but if you are on the fence, installing a DC charger for $100 is less cost than upgrading to a 36 volt system.

This gives you another option.

Have a good day.

Brad
