Wouldn't be without point 1. With your map orientation set north up, your position arrow or boat is always pointing in the correct magnetic direction ie, southwest etc. So if your waypoint is shown on the port rear side of the boat, that's where you probably want to cast or concentrate. You will always know where things are in relation to the boat.
If you are using the wind for a controlled drift, your boat indicator may appear to be drifting sideways. That's correct as the boat icon will always be in relationship to the earth not the direction that the boat is going.
These things make fishing in the dark much easier.
