My brother has an 18 ft Alaskn that we have been duck hunting from and fishing out of for 20 yrs. It is a great boat for both activities. I've had a chance to look over an Outfitter and the advantage the Alaskan would have for duck hunting is without the front casting platform it would carry quite a few more decoys. You might want to consider getting an Alaskan and for fishing building a casting deck that you can pull out for duck hunting. If you do it right it will look good and when you want to fill the boat with decoys you can pull it out. Just my thoughts.
