I used one on a 25hp Merc and found it caused the prop to lose it's "Grip" (for lack of a better term). Since this was my river boat where going upstream with out losing control was critical I quickly removed it. With your larger motor this might not be the case but my advice is to make sure that doesn't happen before you find yourself sideways in a REALLY bad spot -
