It happens. It's usually not "if" but "when." Most guys just leave it be because 1) it's not as accurate as GPS and 2) it's more trouble than it's worth. But like was said above, it's just a water tube with a little opening on the front of your lower unit that runs up to your gauge. Check for crud in there as that's the issue 99% of the time.
