Not having my electronics linked to my trolling motor, I run both/either depending upon which one, if either, has mapped the lake I am fishing in high def. If neither has mapped your favorite lakes, talk to those who run either chip on that body for reference as one is sometimes better than the other in it's interpolation of a particular lake. Otherwise best to check the website for each and cross reference the bodies of water you fish in order to see if your lakes have been mapped. Also, just because there is a map for that lake on the chip, doesn't mean it has been mapped by that company. The lake listings will indicate as to whether or not it has been. In the end, to me, it doesn't matter what the map colors are or whether it can link to my unit. If one or the other has the lake I am fishing, mapped in high def, those are the chips I install that day. More often than not it is Lakemaster.
