2 things I did...

1) I had an extra RAM plate and ball mount. Picked up a set of those accent headlights at Wal-Mart for about $18, mounted those to the RAM plate and wired in a plug. It's hands free if I clamp it onto the ball mount or I can remove it and use it like a traditional spotlight. I'll have this directed down at the water where I unhook fish so all I have to do is flip a switch and I have a very well lit area.

2) On each side of my boat I ran a 16ft strip of 5050 RGB LEDs. Wired them into my boat and they are also switched. Hit the switch and it lights up pretty nice. I have two controllers. One is pretty standard and it just makes the lights change color, flash, fade, or stay on a set color (I've found a darker purple to be excellent for night fishing....not too bright but just enough to see follows close to the boat without spooking fish). The other controller plugs directly into the back of my boat radio and the colors flash and flicker based what is running through the speakers. When I have these lights flashing you can hardly notice it inside the boat but from a distance it looks like it belongs on the Las Vegas strip.
