If you are going to continue the DIY, purchase a hand pump for the lower unit oil. Makes the job less messy and a whole lot easier than squeezing it in. They are available at most stores that sell marine supplies and are under $10.


I second this. Way easier. We use them on our work boats, since we do our own winterization on those.
