I fish alone quite a bit, and with Keith or Sue most of the rest of the time. Quite a few of the lakes I fish don't have great landings, and the X170 will float in a lot less water, getting it on the shore where I'd have to wade to the 1760. Both are stable at rest. The X170 responds to less trolling motor much faster, the boat control from that ride is very good even in big winds. I used about 25 gallons of gas all year in the X170T. The X170 does 30 MPH WOT with a 50. The 1760 does 30 MPH WOT with a 75. I used a heck of a lot more gas using the 1760 a heck of a lot less.

If you are fishing lakes from 100 to 4000 acres most of the time, the x170 will do quite well for you and tows like it isn't even there. If you are fishing bigger water most of the time, you will want the 1760T.
