I have ridden in a number of Reata/1860's which share the same hull with 1880's with 175's and they were far from dogs unless you call great holeshot and a 50mph top end a dog. If yours doesn't do that you may need a different prop. And yes the hull (running surface) is the same on the 1850's 1860's and 1880's. My experience has been that the 175 Verado gives the best performance on that hull...higher price as well of course.

Re: the original question the biggest difference you'll likely notice is going to be the size of the cockpit, the layout of the 1850 Reata allows for more floor space....IMO this allows for a better Muskie fishing setup...large tackle boxes, room for big nets and big rods etc. These boats fish two for muskies (front and rear decks) no problem. Three gets a bit tight with two up front.
