I wonder if supply and demand has anything to do with it? Maybe they can only build 10k boats per year, the market wants 15k boats, but the additional volume doesn't justify another factory so they price it at 10k volume?

Back to the original post - kf you're quick and buy at the right time, you can get very lucky. I paid $14k for a mint crestliner 1850 DC with a Honda 135 on the back. I called him immediately upon him posting the ad and got very lucky.
