I owned a 2005 F150 Supercrew Lariat with a 5.4 before my current truck. NEVER got over 12 mpg towing....EVER.
I am departing TODAY for Lake of the Woods Canada in my new 2014 F-150 Supercrew FX4 towing the exact same boat (Ranger 620). I'll set the trip computer in my driveway and report back when I get to Int'l Falls tonight. No mods....truck was bought new and now has 2,000 miles on it. It has a 3.5 eco-boost engine. I pack light so there is not a lot of ancillary weight. This should tell the tale. I'll be running up I-35 to Cloquet and then up 53 to I-Falls. A good mix of highway and non-highway (about 85/15 I think).
