Randal. check out universal maina.com this is where I got all of my humminbirds they have very good prices and I think there is a $200 rebate on the 999 right now. I think the upgrade to the HDSI transducer is worth it your images will be sharper and it will give you the option to scan in 800 khz witch will give you better detail of the bottom .

The transducer swap is not free there is a charge.
