The most valuable application of DI is comparing digital and analog. Often what looks like a fish on the analog graph is obviously bait or something else on the digital. Often the analog tells a better story but being able to see two views really gives you a better idea. There really is no substitute for that analog graph so a bigger screen (split) or two units is best. I run a HDS 10 that is usually split between DI and analog, my GPS is a separate unit. I would never run the DI only.
